Some days are like this!!! (Wait and watch what happens)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The object of the game is to move the red block around
without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls.

If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are
phenomenal.

It's been said that the US Air Force uses this for
fighter pilots. They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes.

Give it a try!!

Let me know if anyone goes longer than 15.318 seconds...that was my score.

And you think your job is bad!

Smile: Another forwarded email that made it to my blog.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a
ten-year- old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's
owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane,
were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a
miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I
told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and
offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog
in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told
me they thought it would be good for the four-year-old
Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane
might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat
as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm,
petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if
he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes,
Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to
accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or
confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's death,
wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening
quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his
mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting
explanation.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how
to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time
and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued,
"Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have
to stay as long."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply, Speak
kindly.

Stole this from my sister, Victoria's, blog: thought it would be fun. What surprised me was the math skills! I always thought I was more of a verbal and word person and a math person, but I did best in the math part!

Winter Olympics: Like them or hate them it doesn't matter. For me, I enjoy them a lot! Maybe because I was a participant at one time. No, not in the olympics, but in winter sports. I love winter sports. I loved skiing - downhill and later cross country. I loved ice skating even though I never got past a single spin and could never master a jump. But what Bryant Gumble said and is going to get a pass on is uncalled for. Sure, they aren't always the greatest athletes, because for the most part they aren't professionals. These are mainly kids out there doing their best and having the time of their lives. It's the WINTER Olympics.

The funny thing is I had commented to my husband, just a few days ago, how blacks don't like to participate in winter sports. As one of my black friends put it, "Bonnie, we black folks aren't crazy like you white people. When it gets that cold outside, we stay inside!"

Here's what racist Bryant Gumble said - of course he forgets the SUMMER OLYMPICS are mainly black and if a white person reversed his statements and said, the summer olympics were boring because it was mainly black athletes and it looked like a NAACP convention you can bet it would be all over the news! But he gets away with this -
HBO's Gumbel: Lack of Blacks Makes Olympics 'Look Like a GOP Convention'
Posted by Dave Pierre on February 16, 2006 - 00:58.
There were some eye-opening remarks from Bryant Gumbel on the most recent episode of HBO's Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel. According to a transcript posted by a television columnist named Seth Frelich, Gumbel said the following in his closing monologue last week (emphasis mine):

"Finally, tonight, the Winter Games. Count me among those who don’t like them and won’t watch them ... Because they’re so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try too. Like, try not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention. Try not to point out that something’s not really a sport if a pseudo-athlete waits in what’s called a kiss-and-cry area, while some panel of subjective judges decides who won ... So if only to hasten the arrival of the day they’re done, when we can move on to March Madness — for God’s sake, let the games begin."

The comments have received scant coverage, with the San Francisco Chronicle (in a betting column) and The Columbus Dispatch (in a "People in the News" column) among the few outlets that have even mentioned the episode.

You'd think these remarks would have received more attention than they have. (Well, maybe not.) It's just hard to imagine a Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity getting a pass on something like this. Don'tcha think?

My point in this posting and a few others of similar ilk I've posted? Why do we condescend to blacks? Why do we have one set of standards for whites and lower standards for blacks? It is insulting to them to say it's okay for them to do and say stupid things because they're black and what? don't know any better? Let's show them the same respect we show the white population and hold them accountable for their actions and words.

You can probably tell by the fun and strange things I post here, I have some fun and strange friends. Here's another one. 1 in 10 people can complete this maze. I did it first try, but in subsequent efforts I went outside the wall and only managed to complete it one more time. Try this maze and let know how you do!

Are these items moving? ?Or are they perfectly still??

One teacher said, "I felt like they were all moving...but slowly.
Kind of like, they were breathing."

The pictures attached are used to test the level of stress
a person can handle.

The slower the pictures move, the better your ability of
handling stress.

Alleged criminals that were tested see them spinning around madly;
however, senior citizens and kids see them standing still.

None of these images are animated - they are perfectly still.

PS...I saw them slowly revolve half way around in one direction, then switch and go just as slowly back in the other direction...wonder what that means?

Last night I had the strangest dream: Okay, it wasn't last night, it was last week, but it really left me in a strange state. Not sure what was real and what was a dream. It started off in the college parking lot and I couldn't find my car. One of the security guards found me wandering around and we drove around until we found my car. While we were talking the subject of my ex-husband came up and she said she had just seen him last weekend. Then later she said she had heard he died!...We found my car, right where I always parked it and I went in and was in the lunch room. We were talking in there and some of them said, yes, the too had heard Ralph had died. Soon I was ready to leave and my friend Rick was there and he wheeled out with me. When we got to the parking lot two strange things happened... First we were young again! In our 20's or around there and second, my car wasn't there again! We started looking for it but I woke up so never got to the end of the dream. BUT! any emails to my ex and his wife have gone unanswered. I went to their website which has been pared down to bare bones and all their contact information is gone! Including their guest book. It leaves me wondering....

I am not a George Bush fan. Anyone who knows me knows this. They know I have little… no they know I have absolutely no respect for the man. But, I also believe in fairness. I received this email through one of my political groups and was disgusted by the content. Not because it belittled George Bush. Heck, we all do that, but by the way it was presented. Here is what was sent.

If a white person makes a remark about a black person they are hung out in public like dirty laundry and forced to apologize, even if their statements are true. We call it racism then. But let a black person make a remark denigrating the white race and we say that’s okay. Well, it isn’t okay. It isn’t okay either way and I think Rep. Charles Wangle owes the white community an apology. Too judge an entire race on one mans actions is racism at its best.

Now do I believe in white supremacy? That isn’t the issue. Heck, if there was really racial equality we would have more white basketball players, and football players, and track stars. Just because blacks are better at those sports doesn’t mean white’s shouldn’t have an equal opportunity to play and earn the big bucks, too! But, we don’t go there, do we? And blacks will tell you they are better at sports. Heck we even had a movie White Men Can’t Jump! We have equal opportunity when it comes to corporate jobs and businesses MUST hire minorities to fill so many positions. Yet, when it comes to sports that is not even a consideration. But, I am getting a bit off track here…

For example: When Senator Reid called Clarence Thomas "an embarrassment to the Supreme Court" and said his "opinions are poorly written” members of the black leadership network Project 21 demanded an ‘immediate’ apology. Why? Senator Reid spoke the truth yet, this was called a racist remark because a white man said it about a black man.

And when Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott made remarks about blacks being superior in sports Blacks demanded her head and an apology! “Jackson and Sharpton regularly spruce up their credentials as Black America's racial gatekeepers by demanding the scalp of any public figure (White, of course) that makes a racially insensitive gaffe.” (By Earl Ofari Hutchinson | SPECIAL TO THE OBSERVER).

There are many more examples out there, but I just wanted to post a couple to make my point. Was Marge Schott insulting? No, she spoke what she felt was a truth and thought she was stating a compliment that blacks are better at sports than whites.

Was Senator Reid wrong in his remarks? No, but because it was a white man speaking about a black man it was deemed racist. So how do we condone Charles Wangle’s statement and say it is acceptable and condemn the others? Do two wrongs make a right? I know some will disagree with me and that is their right. I don’t normally post controversial things here, but sometimes something just hits me in the right spot, or the wrong spot and I have to speak out. Just my humble opinion.

Got Milk?

I live on a farm and times are pretty hard as the area I live in is
considered economically depressed. It's so bad, that I've heard
some of our neighbors were having a hard time making ends meet.

This morning, I woke up to hear a knock at the door. When I went
to answer the door -- this is the sad sight that I saw. It just about
broke my heart...!!

Please scroll down, to see for yourself...!!

Some fun stuff:

Early Retirement

It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes
harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when
they were younger.

When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive,
and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman.

My name is Ron......Let me relate how I handled the situation with my
wife,Julie. When I took "early retirement" last year, it became necessary for
Julie to get a full-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits
that we needed.

Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show
her age. I usually get home from the golf course about the same time she
gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always
says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I
don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me
when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at
the club so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home cooked
grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it
does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed.
Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example she will
say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills
during her lunch hour. But, boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just
smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even
three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her
that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you
know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points.
When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods.
She had to take a break when she was only half finished mowing the yard. I
try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice,
big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And,
as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me
too.

I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Julie.
I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy.
Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody
knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older.
However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less
criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that
writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help other...
Signed,
Ron

EDITOR'S NOTE: Ron died suddenly on October 3rd. He was found with a
Calloway extra long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II rammed up his butt,
with only 2 inches of grip showing. His wife Julie was arrested, but the
all-woman Grand Jury accepted her defense that he accidentally sat
down on it very suddenly.

Dolphins in research:
I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. Read the full description before looking at the picture.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress level at St. Mary's Hospital.

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical.

A closely monitored, scientific study of a group revealed that in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical, a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. If there are many differences found between both dolphins, it means that the person is experiencing a great amount of stress.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences, you may want to take a vacation.

My father worked at the American Sterilizer for as long as I can remember until his retirement...my uncle Vinny worked there...and my brother Vinny still does... Three Vinny Rivas's in the same plant... and now a manufacturing plant that has been one of the most stable and desirable places to work in Erie is shutting down and moving it's plant to Mexico for cheaper labor. What is going on with America? Why is the Bush administration trying to turn us into a third world country by not only allowing businesses to move to other countries for cheaper labor, leaving Americans unemployed, but encouraging them to do so with incentives? I have to agree with Hillary Clinton that this is the worst administration America has ever seen.

Steris Corp., an Ohio-based company that had bought out longtime Erie manufacturer AMSCO a decade ago, stunned its workers and the community Monday when it announced that it was shipping all of its Erie-based manufacturing operations to Mexico.

Soon, 450 jobs will be gone.

Soon, another piece of Erie's industrial base will become history.

Sadly, we've heard this story many times before.

Here is what workers had to say as they left Steris Corp. Monday after hearing that all of the plant's 450 manufacturing jobs would end within the next 18 months. Workers will be laid off in stages during that time, Steris executives said.

"There's disbelief. Even my boss couldn't believe it. He was shaking. He just couldn't believe it.

Henry Fish wonders if Steris Corp. will end up regretting its decision to move its manufacturing operation to Mexico.

"I'm not sure it's really a good decision. If I was (at Steris), I wouldn't have done it," said Fish, the 80-year-old retired chief executive of the former American Sterilizer Co.

AMSCO, founded in Erie in 1898, was widely regarded as one of the world's top manufacturers of medical equipment.

Radu Bogdan didn't plan on reworking his résumé at age 53.
But he'll have no choice, after learning Monday that his 16-year career as a Steris Corp. machinist will be eliminated sometime in the next 18 months as the company moves its 450 Erie manufacturing jobs to Mexico.

"It did not sink in yet," Bogdan said as he drove home to tell his family the difficult news.

Bogdan was planning on working for the company until he retired.

And neither did my brother at age 57... and my parents who are now in their 80's are unsure of what will happen to their health plan, that followed my father after his retirement from The American Sterilizer Company.

Happy 2006 everyone....and may we survive the Bush administration without going into a depression.

Weekly update: The coming week is a big week for us. On February 5 I turn 58 and the next day, Feb. 6 my husband, Keith, turns 55! So, in honor of the upcoming birthdays a little celebration page.

Now on a strange note...the job I had is no longer! I was hired to replace a young woman who had had a baby and wanted to stay home with the child. She had to leave prior to giving birth and even then had a preemie. It only weighed 3.12 lbs at birth and had to stay at the hospital until it gained some weight. She took it home and a week later was bored with it and came back and asked for her job back and Yes! the dumb ass of a boss told her she could come back. He never talked to me or the other woman who works there (the mother-in-law of the twit), but just came over at the end of my shift on Monday and said he wouldn't need me anymore after this week because "S" wanted to come back.

When the MIL found out she was royally pissed because the twit spent more time outside smoking than working and had to be called on her cell phone to get her butt inside when things got too busy. Also, she is a snot and a little bitch (I can back her up on that one), but she has to be nice to her because she's her sons wife. Anyway, she is not happy and thought it was rude and shitty of the guy to let me go like that. She is still hoping "S", who never enjoyed the job anyway, will decide taking care of her baby was better and quit again and this time I would be offered the job and it would be guaranteed permanent. Not when and if the twit had a whim to come back again. Anyway... we are talking. I told her I would not come back for days when the bitch wanted a day off or needed to take the baby to the docs or something, but if it turned out she left again I would want a guarantee she couldn't waltz back in again one day and take my job away again.

A lot of the customers were upset as well, so ... we shall see what we shall see.

Also, the other place I was hoping to get a job is closing it's plant here and outsourcing it's jobs to Mexico for cheaper labor. If this keeps up Bush may change America into a third world country before his term is up and turn the third world countries into prosperous nations at the expense of the citizens of his own country. But hey! what does it matter to him. He has all he needs!

So, I am once again unemployed but at least I had some fun, earned some money and paid some bills and made a new friend. Not bad for 5 weeks. Until next time....
