I can't believe it's been so long since I last sat down and wrote here, but it's also nice to know I have such a busy life. So, it's catch up time again... I seem to be doing a lot of that lately.

Things on Ebay are going well. Some things, of course, don't sell while others sell way over what I ever would have expected.

TOPS is going well also as I continue to lose.. a pound a week, but hey, if it keeps up like that, well, that's 52 pounds in a year and I can handle that. SRD (State Recognition Day) for TOPS is coming together... our banner team is going to start that Sunday, I have the skit done and the music and we had our first rehearsal Thursday and while it was a rough start, it's going to work... the handouts I'm making are getting completed and we're working on a basket.

The big news here in SC was our ice storm that literally stopped everything for two days. Monday we got up to an ice land and as beautiful as it was everyone was iced in. We aren't prepared here for things like that. Our cars were covered in a couple inches of ice and on Tuesday I went out and released them. Still we couldn't drive them. Then Wednesday, when i went to mail some pkgs, I noticed smoke coming out of the front of my car and drove to the garage. They discovered my radiator had sprung a leak and the front axels were leaking and spraying grease on the engine. Don't even ask how much all that cost to repair. Have credit card will travel.

My husband, while still having some issues, is doing better and has managed (knock wood) to stay out of the hospital as have all our cats. It always seems everything happens at once with us though... like the day my car started smoking my husband had an emergency dentist appt. for a lost filling that was on a tooth that really needed capped, so we are working on getting that done hoping for no complications due to the coumadin he's on because of the pulmonary embolism he had a couple years ago...ah, life is interesting.

Stay warm!!

This and that... This is a catch up blog as I have been lagging behind lately. I have been having a great time at CURVES and would recommend it to every busy woman who is just getting back into exercising or starting. For those who are well trained this would seem like nothing, but you get a great workout, it is painless and doesn't take hours in the gym. I can already see the effects of toning and I have only been going since January 3.

I have continued to lose weight and am now only 68 pounds away from my goal weight, which means since last May 4 when I joined TOPS I have lost a total of 26 pounds! It is slow but it is going and it is staying off!

Oh, I am now selling on Ebay so if you want to check out what I have up you can go to ebay.com and do a search under sellers, type in scoopaloop and you will see my items. Not much for now, just some books, but I will be adding more as time goes on -chess sets, clothes (that are too big for me now :-), and other miscellaneous items. One of my friends has some Barbie dolls she wants me to put up for her. Of course, I get a handling fee :-)...

Let's see... that about covers it for now... still working on my book, still trying to get my violin to sound more like music than cats in heat, and still trying to get this place organized enough we can stop paying $45 a month renting a storage unit just for the overflow :-). Which means it's time for me to tackle the closet in my husbands office and start getting rid of junk and make room to store stuff in there.

TOPS Update: Lost another pound so am still going in the right direction. And that was after Christmas and enjoying the wonderful cookies my sister Victoria sent me. MMMM! they were good and worth whatever pounds I may have lost had I not enjoyed them.

I'm working on my list for New Years and one was to be kinder to myself, so today I joined CURVES and since it is right around the corner from me it will be easy to get to regardless of the weather. I had a great workout their today and feel better mentally and physically for having done it. On to another resolution on that list.

Happy New Year! Well, today is the first day of 2004 and I wasn't even finished with 2003. As my friend Rick said, he's still back in 1999! So, now it is time to move on and as Victoria said the new year is a good time to reevaluate last year and decide how you are going to make things better or do things differently this year. I like the two main questions so I will do the same here.

How am I going to change the world?

1. Encourage my friends, relatives, any one I meet to get out and vote and get a democrat back in the White House. We can work from there on rectifying the mess the Bush administration has gotten us into during his reign of error.

2. I will put aside my feelings of disgust over what we have done to Iraq and write to young people serving in our military as many do not recieve any mail from family or friends. I have a long list if anyone is interested.

3. Work with a man here who rescues feral cats, if nothing else he captures them, gets them spayed or neutered and releases them back to the wild where at leas they can no longer reproduce. I will work with him in finding homes for the ones who can be socialized.

What will I do for myself.

1. I have to agree with Victoria's first resolution. Be kinder to myself. Like her I spend all my time taking care of others and making very little time for myself. I will make more time to ride my bike, join a health club, and get out walking ALONE more often. Since my brother and sister-in-law have moved here she wants to go out walking with me, and that is fine, once in awhile. But I am a solitary walker and use that time to think, make plans, and solve problems.

2. Start a stricter budget. Lately we have been spending more than we are taking in, since Keith can no longer work the extra time or teach on Saturdays. The pay has cut back, but the spending has not. I am going to do more refunding, use more coupons, and shop less buying only what we need and encourage him to spend less time on Ebay :-).

3. Discuss issues not people. I have found myself getting back into that old routine of talking about people, and then I feel badly after because that is not me and I don't like doing that. I will stick with issues and leave personalities out of the conversations. This will make me feel better about myself.

Well, as Vic said...that's three for each one and that's a good start. 2004 is here and ready or not here we go.
