Tonight Sumter, SC joined with thousands of others around the world in the candle light vigil for peace. It was not a demonstration, but a peaceful gathering of people who feel this unjust war against Iraq should not occur. We were a small group who were part of a powerful statement. The co-ordinators had guitars and sand Peace Train. Then a speech was given on what we hoped to accomplish with this great movement. To hopefully open the eyes of someone and convince him we do not need this war. We then all lit our candles, stood in silence for some time and then sang Blowing In The Wind. After that a quiet group of people thanked each other for coming and left as peacefully as they arrived.
